
I think the best descriptor for the military action in Iran is the Seagull War. That’s when one swoops in, craps on the country and then swoops out. After the military spends $1 billion a day, President Donald Trump will eventually tire of the effort and will call it “mission accomplished!” Hello, George W. Bush? Afterwards, the poor Iranian civilians can scramble to stay out of harm’s way from warring militia groups.
As cynical as I am, I pray that I am dead wrong. But history shows that the outcomes of interventions in the Middle East have been depressingly consistent.
