I understand Brian Greenspun’s angst about the fate of his 75 year old newspaper, the Las Vegas Sun. But the fact remains that the Sun should have ended a long time ago.
I moved here 16 years ago, and I liked the idea of sitting down to read the printed newspaper every morning. I purchased a subscription and have loved the walk down my driveway to fetch it off the bricks. It was an odd thing finding the Sun blown into the folds of the Las Vegas Review Journal. I don’t agree with most of what was written in the Sun, and I have stopped reading it.
If the Sun is worth saving, then Mr. Greenspun should be able to continue printing and selling his paper without having to rely on the Review-Journal for support. I, for one, do not appreciate the judge forcing me to buy the Sun because it is wrapped in the Review-Journal. It is about time Mr. Greenspun and the courts get on board with the free market.
