While catching up on on my reading, I came across a May 26 article in the Review-Journal, about a high school student who was expelled for voicing his views on being pro law enforcement. He and his family are now suing the Clark County School District for violating his free speech rights.
If it were my child, I would have explained to him that this is a delicate topic and to proceed with caution and discretion. But I would not have stopped him. He has a voice.
Somehow he is going to grow immensely from this journey — and at such a young age. He already won.
Does this come out of the (“we need more money”) district budget? That ultimately means the taxpayers.
The students who disrupt the classrooms and learning never get suspended. We the taxpayers probably just paid for his college tuition. He did nothing wrong.
